OPTIM® uPVC Plumbing System

Marley

Overview

Marley OPTIM® is a non-pressure uPVC drain waste vent (DWV) system that has been installed in New Zealand commercial and residential buildings for more than 50 years.

All components in the system are made of uPVC, so are fully compatible with each other and also compliant with AS/NZS 1260: PVC-U pipes and fittings for drain, waste and vent applications. The range will meet or contribute to meeting the B2 and G13 provisions of the NZBC.

The latest addition to the OPTIM® range is the Compakt® Boss Gully Trap. It too is made of uPVC so integrates into the OPTIM® DWV system. Its siphonic design significantly reduces overall installation height, so provides the design flexibility required to work within shorter mid floor joist heights.

Application

The OPTIM® range includes over 300 compatible pipes and fittings. Sizing for sanitary systems is available from 32 to 150mm using solvent jointed technology, so, any vertical or lateral in-building installation is achievable. 100 to 375mm sizes are also available for underground sewer application using rubber ring joint technology.

Floor drainage is critical for medium density projects that have mid-level bathrooms and laundries. If a fixture overflows, a floor waste gully prevents flooding and seepage into the mid floor and rooms below. The OPTIM Compakt® Boss Gully Trap is designed to allow plumbers to work with shorter mid floor joist heights (230–240mm).

Installing Compakt® under a floor flange and grate replaces the need for a traditional boss with bulky gully bends. At only 199mm high (vs up to 280mm) it lets the plumber achieve the right fit and fall for pipes from multiple bathroom fixtures, and from the boss to the DWV stack.

Support

OPTIM’s core range is manufactured in New Zealand, minimising supply constraints linked to imported products. Furthermore, OPTIM® is supported by a nationwide team of territory managers and a contact centre. Territory managers are available for over the phone or on-site consultation.

Sustainability

Marley is committed to its sustainable journey. The New Zealand Green Building Council’s Green Star rating system recognises BEP accreditation for uPVC and provides credits for its use. Marley also recycles its production scrap and will accept back off cuts and clean end of life product from site. Marley has a goal to reach 100% renewable electricity by 2025 with the help of Meridian Energy’s Certified Renewable Energy programme.

Benefits

  • OPTIM® offers the complete uPVC range. There is no need to spend time searching multiple product sources to mix and match components or fabricate other plastic types to achieve a particular design requirement.
